about
This is one of janie's oldest songs written during her early folk days. When Tamlin and Janie turned it into a ska song making it really upbeat it became an excellent antidote to the anxious contemporary times during the covid pandemic. Featuring Stuart Vandergraff on Saxaphones, the film clip for the song was shot by Janie's husband Peter Herron during lockdown in northern NSW. Check out Janie's YouTube site and watch it.
lyrics
14. Life Goes On
We’ve been watching the time go by
For years and years,
With nothing much to show for it
But laughter and tears.
Do you think that it could mean more
To you and to me,
If I wrote a little song for you
For all the world to see?
‘Cause, life goes on and on
Yes, life goes on and on
And on and on.
Yes, life goes on and on
Life goes on and on
And on and on.
Memories and thoughts go by
And vanish in the night
If you don’t keep them in your mind
They’ll soon be out of sight.
Do you think that we’d remember more,
Over the coming years,
If I wrote a little song for you
For all the world to hear?
‘Cause, life goes on and on
Yes, life goes on and on
And on and on.
Yes, life goes on and on
Life goes on and on
And on and on.
High up in the mountains,
A little creek flows free
Then grows into a river,
That flows into the sea.
We are only rivers,
In an ocean built on sand
But move one grain and the ocean
Will never be the same.
‘Cause, life goes on and on
Yes, life goes on and on
And on and on.
Yeah, life goes on and on
Life goes on and on
And on and on.

I first saw Tash Sultana busking in Melbourne CBD and was blown away. So good to see the way Tash has become so appreciated both in Australia and overseas. Janie Conway Herron
